PRECESS Polishing process

Realistic process modelling for more precise polishing results

Since the 1960s, polishing calculations in optical manufacturing have been based on simplified motion models. The PRECESS method, developed by Mandler Engineering, takes a fundamentally new approach: it takes into account the actual machine kinematics, including the oscillation movement, directly in the process and polishing pad calculation for the first time.

01 Starting point

Challenge

Traditional calculation models assume static or simplified motion sequences. However, modern polishing machines work almost exclusively with superimposed oscillating movements. The consequence: systematic deviations between the model and reality, which lead to errors in process design.

02 OUR APPROACH

Solution

The PRECESS process models material removal, taking into account the actual machine kinematics. In addition, dynamic coating calculation enables for the first time the transfer of modern simulation methods to classical bitumen tools – a combination that opens up completely new manufacturing possibilities.

03 Added value

Advantages

Realistic Process calculation based on actual machine kinematics instead of simplified models.
More precise Reduced systematic errors in process design.
Process stable Higher predictability of material removal over the entire machining area.
Versatile Applicable to floor coverings and traditional pitch tools.
